Born To Be Wild - Steppenwolf Empty

Artist: Steppenwolf
Song: Born To Be Wild
Album: Steppenwolf
Why I picked it: In the car on the way home yesterday1, my Dad and I were talking about an experience we've both shared many times. When we're talking about Canadian music with Americans, every single time the conversation includes the words: "What? I didn't know they were Canadian!"

Like Steppenwolf. Wikipedia refers to them as "Canadian-American," because of the five Steppenwolf main members, only three were Canadian; the other two were from LA. Born To Be Wild, though, is a Canadian creation, written originally by Mars Bonfire, member of predecessor band "The Sparrows," and from Oshawa Ontario.

So if you wonder why crappy bands like Puddle of Mud, Staind, and other similarly crappy deep-voiced guy rock exists, well, most of it learned from Steppenwolf. I'm ashamed to say it's Canada's fault.
